Finally

So I've been wanting to start a blog ever since we got married two years ago. Now I'm finally going to try. John and I have been on a two year adventure together... that started in Atlanta and has now led us to Chicago. But let me rewind a bit..

For the past two years we lived in Atlanta while John worked for BCG and I worked at HAVEN Academy. John had a fantastic two years there - he really loved it. For the past year and a half he worked on a case in New York - so he traveled there every week Monday through Thursday. And I worked at HAVEN Academy Fitzhugh Lee Transitional School. It was a day school for students with severe behaviors that prevented them from functioning safely in a regular sped classroom. I taught there while attending grad school online and earned a master's degree in ABA & Autism. So needless to say I was busy teaching at a job that physically and emotionally drained me daily and was a full time grad student. So not much time for blogging. When I wasn't doing homework or stuff for my job I was either sleeping, laying on couch, or spending time with John. However, I learned a lot and really enjoyed my job and my classes. I graduated in May and John ended his job in May... then we went to Europe to celebrate! Our Europe trip will be described in another post. :) It was AMAZING.

But then we moved as soon as we returned and now we are currently living in Evanston, Illinois. John started Kellogg Business School last week and is really enjoying it! He's so excited about all of this down time and having another chance to be a college student - which equals lots of fun and less work. I am currently job hunting. I am searching for anything in elementary or special education and I'm also applying to different therapeutic schools and autism programs. I haven't had any luck yet but I'm hoping to find something soon.

So in the meantime I'm just going to enjoy this time and get settled. Kellogg has a program for spouses or significant others of students called Joint Ventures - or JV. The program is very inclusive - it's basically a club to help us get connected to the school and community and it has weekly events for us to attend. In addition, all social/fun things the students do - we are always invited! So I get to enjoy all of the fun perks of being a college student without actually being a student and going to class. :) More to come later! I'm excited about this fun chapter of our lives.
